INTERNATIONAL YOUTH SUMMIT - Please send your suggestions, requests and
thoughts on the upcoming youth summit in Chattanooga. Some ideas to think
about are: What is the purpose and vision of this conference? What are
some goal(s) we have to help move us towards that vision? What are the

1998 HUMANITARIAN PROJECT: Students at A:shiwi Elementary School in New
Mexico, USA have raised funds to be used for the purchase of a boat motor
costing $2,600 for the Sumu and Miskito Indian people of Nicaragua.
A:shiwi teacher Jeanne Pahls will travel to Nicaragua in July to deliver
donated school supplies and the funds for the motor. For more info,

FOLK TALES: 22 I*EARN schools participated in the Folk Tale Project. A web
site "Folk Tales from around the world" is being prepared to be shown at

INET '98: The Internet Society's annual international summit, in Geneva,
on July 21-24, will feature a panel of diverse
youth and adult technology innovators discussing the role of emerging
Internet technologies in education, community, work and personal life
worldwide. Panel organizers are seeking to sponsor travel costs for a
young adult, between the ages of 13 and 21, growing up in Asia or Africa,
to join the team of panelists in Geneva. Interested youth, their parents

MIT JUNIOR SUMMIT 98: Online forums--several months of discussion, in many
different languages, and using software designed to encourage creativity
and communication-- will start on August 1. TheyOre seeking moderators for
the online forum who, ideally would (a) speak several languages and (b)
have experience moderating online forums (c) for children (d) from around
the world. But, any 2 out of those 4 conditions might make a good
