1998 HUMANITARIAN PROJECT UPDATE: For Karen students in Thailand. Earlier
this year a teacher aide was employed with money raised by participants in
The First Peoples' Project. Previously there were 75 students to one
teacher. 70 - 80 blankets are being taken to the Karen villages by
Siriluck Hiri-O-Tappa. These blankets were given to us by Brenda Venters,
coordinator of The Longest Knitted Scarf Project (another I*EARN
project!). Scarves were knitted by I*EARN students and teachers, then knit
into blankets by the community of Lara Primary School. Qantas, the
Australian Airlines, transported the 5 boxes to Thailand for free.
