CHILDNET AWARD! Congratulations to Bairnsdale Secondary College in
Australia for winning the Childnet Award. The prize money will be used to
further the work of the The First Peoples' Project and the Child Labour
Project. 
  
CONGRATULATIONS TO I*EARN LITHUANIAN CENTRE: which was registered as an
NGO on 23 February, and to Daina Valanciene, the new coordinator. 
  
  
I*EARN CEE COORDINATORS MEETING: The fourth annual meeting of the I*EARN
Central and Eastern European coordinators will be organized in Bled,
Slovenia between March 13 and 18, 1999. 
Slovenian teachers, as well as teachers from Andorra, Cyprus, Malta,
Iceland, Denmark and Sweden will also attend.

YOUTH CAN '99: THE INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL AND COMMUNICATIONS

I*EARN SLOVAKIA AND PEACE CORPS COLLABORATION: Peace Corps volunteer Dan
Lowman presented a 20-minute program about I*EARN to a groups of 18 new
volunteers and their Slovak counterparts

NEW PROJECT IN SENEGAL (WEST AFRICA): A research project on the use of new
information and 
communication technologies to undertake vocational training activities
involving 3 target groups : 2 of 25 children each, from the age of 10 to
15, and 1 group of 10 women trained to be facilators/learners.

traveling around the world,allowing students and others follow their trek

Join Us! Seeking Contacts, Contributions and Collaborators
CONNECTIONS ON EARTH: This project gives students and teachers around the
world a chance to celebrate theirlocal environment, flora, fauna, cultures
and peoples, and to share their findings in a Virtual Museum on the World
Wide Web. The symbolic symbolic and structural metaphor for this project
will be the four Native American elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. The
project will take place on iearn.environ. See iearn.ideas for more

BEAUTY OF THE BEASTS: Join the celebration of nature through the eyes of
elementary students from around the world. "Beauty of the Beasts" is a
global project inviting children to capture the grandeur and magnificence
of animals indigenous to their areas through original artwork and poetry.
The students' work will be compiled into a worldwide exhibit, and
displayed at numerous locations including the American Museum of Natural
History, NYC, in the spring of 1999, and in San Juan, Puerto Rico, summer,

HEALTH PROJECT PROPOSAL: Teachers in Uganda have posted this new project
