GLOBAL BANGEMANN CHALLENGE AWARD: Out of the hundreds of nominated 
IT projects worldwide, the I*EARN First Peoples' Project was 
awarded one of three prizes in the educational category. The prize 
was presented by the King of Sweden at the awards ceremony in 
the Nobel Hall in Stockholm, Sweden. Congratulations!

COMMUNITIES IN COLLABORATION: In cooperation with the United 
States Information Agency, I*EARN-USA announces a new project in Egypt, 
India, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. I*EARN will work 
with English language teachers in these countries to provide on-line 
conflict resolution tools to enhance their curriculum, and engage 
them in projects and dialogue with each other and I*EARN schools 
around the world. If you know of an English language teacher in 
one of these countries who might be interested in participating, 
please write to Radha Blackman rblackman@us.iearn.org 
  
  
ARE YOU GOING TO PUERTO RICO?: Schools Online is seeking I*EARN 
teachers, including one lead teacher, to participate in a 
collaborative video project. Teachers who participate will 
receive free video equipment to use in their classroom and to keep after 
the project ends. Teachers will also have the opportunity to 
learn to use the equipment from a video professional at the 
I*EARNConference in Puerto Rico. 
  
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE HOLOCAUST GENOCIDE PROJECT: 
They have just published their June 1999 edition of An End to Intolerance. 
The History Channel in the USA has also recognized the work 
done by the many students and teachers around the world who 
have made this project a success and deserving of award! See:

WELCOME I*EARN IN GERMANY: German schools have been participating 
in I*EARN projects for a number of years. In May, Hans G. Henkel 
and Sebastian Graefe launched an I*EARN center in Germany with 10 member
schools! 
  
NEW COORDINATOR IN CZECH REPUBLIC: Please welcome Ilona Kubonova, 
an I*EARN teacher who will be coordinating 
the program in Czech Republic. Thank you to Katka Cajkova for 
all your contributions to I*EARN. 
  
ART/DRAMA CAMP IN SLOVAKIA: Students of Gymnazium SNV are 
hosting the ST.ART Art and Drama Camp from June 21-24, with 
participants from Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Hungary.

ESTONIAN YOUTH CAMP: About 40 young people came together in 
Metskyla, Estonia to share their experience in different projects 
from June 18th-20th. The camp was for I*EARN youth in Estonia, 
including participants from Orphanages and Shelters.

Join Us! Seeking Contacts, Contributions and Collaborators
PROJECT FOR SCHOOLS IN GERMANY AND SPANISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES: 
In collaboration with the National Commissions of Spain, Venezuela, 
Cuba, the Dominican Republic and Mexico, the German UNESCO-Commission 
organises a school partnership project titled "Learning for the future". 
German schools and schools in Spanish speaking countries will 
jointly develop a topic for the coming school year (September 1999 to

FEEDBACK AND MATERIALS NEEDED FOR I*EARN HANDBOOK: I*EARN-US 
is developing a Handbook and Trainer's Manual to use in 
introducing its new participants to I*EARN. We invite your 
suggestions and additions to a rough draft copy at

this a useful resource for all of I*EARN. Please send comments

INDIGENOUS GLOBAL ART PROJECT 1999 - "Honouring Our Elders": 
To recognise the United Nations "Year of the older persons", it has 
been decided that the 1999 Indigenous Global Art Project will centre 
around this theme. If you would like to join this project or want 
further information you should respond to this topic 
"Art Project 99" on iearn.fp. 
  
CHILDREN'S FOLK GAMES: Petru Dumitru, 
the coordinator in Romania wrote that the website will soon be up. 
He will be presenting a workshop at the I*EARN International Conference 
in Puerto Rico and would like to invite participants in this project to be 
part of workshop about the multiculturalism in the "Children's 
Folk Games" Project. 
  
INTERNATIONAL FOODS: Project Coordinators Margaret Scott 
and Crystine Fluitsma write: "To all the contributors who 
supported this project during 1998, the Recipe Book has been 
delayed, but will soon be completed, and ready for sending to 
all contributors. We are very sorry for this, but could 
not do anything to publish it more quickly. We would just like 
to let you know that it IS happening, and apologise for the delay."

PROYECTO ABC: Teachers from Colombia have designed a project 
about Indigenous Cultures of their regions: Antioquia, Bogota
