1999-2000 I*EARN PROJECT DESCRIPTION BOOK.  Now available via
PDF file on the WWW.  Your I*EARN Coordinator has the URL/www
address for this PDF file.  It is also on the iearn.teachers
and iearn.youth conferences under the topic "1999-2000
Project Description Booklet."  Teachers and students are
encouraged to download and print their own copies.  Anyone not
able to download and print a copy should contact their Country
Coordinator or a member of the International Secretariat to
arrange for the PDF file to be sent via e-mail or for a printed
copy to be sent to the school.   

ATTENTION PROJECT FACILITATORS: CONFERENCE CLEAN-UP.  Most
I*EARN newsgroups will be "cleaned" over the next two weeks,
with old messages deleted in order to get ready for new project
work.  Facilitators, if there are messages you would like to
keep, please download and save copies this week.

most significant events that have happened in their community,
and/or the 10 most outstanding people during the 20th.

EARTHQUAKE RELIEF. I*EARN-Turkey invites you to send  a
message of hope to the people of Turkey.  Send stories, poems,
letters and prayers to the following email address:
cemalardil@hotmail.com.  Volunteers will print and distribute
the messages at relief centers in Turkey. 

"FOLK SONGS PROJECT" Everyone is invited to record an audio
cassette with folk songs from their region/country and  send it
together with a little description and the notes. Contact Zina

"IF..(POWER OF IMAGINATION PROJECT" Write an essay on the basis
of  a question that challenges the imagination.  Paintings,
drawings, photos (scanned or not) are also welcome. Contact

LEARNING CIRCLES BEGINNING SEPT 27:  Learning Circles are
highly interactive, project-based partnerships among a small
number of schools located throughout the world. Each session is
14 weeks. To join a Learning Circle, you must be a member of
I*EARN and complete a Learning Circle placement form two weeks
before the beginning of the session (by Sep.13). For more

LOCAL HISTORY PROJECT: Students research the local history of
their town or area and post it to iearn.kidscan. See

until June 1, 2000. 

"PROVERBS & SAYINGS PROJECT" Students and teachers are invited
to collect proverbs and sayings from their region/country and
send them translated in English  with a short explanation of
the meaning and situation when they are used. A short true or
imaginary story connected to each proverb can be attached.
Drawings and pictures are also welcome. Conference:

"SOLSTICE HOLIDAYS" This project is going to be an extension of
the "Winter Holidays" project from school year 1998-1999. Share
customs, songs, pictures, photos and recipes relating to your

"TALKING TIMBUKTU: Global Childrens Music Project" The GCMP
hopes to be able to be able to share our I*EARN family's music
and culture by representing EVERY country with a simple
