CELEBRATE 2000- GIANT QUILT PROJECT. Students create a
patchwork square that represents their interpretation of a
traditional folktale for their country. A written description
or poem is to accompany each square, outlining or responding to
the folktale concerned. Contact Rose Kraemer in the United
States rkraemer@bellsouth.net. iearn.globlart.
CELEBRATING OUR WOMEN. Through the use of words, art,
photography and other disciplines, we hope to have a good
"celebration" of women's achievements throughout history and in
today's world. We invite all I*EARN participants to tell the
stories of women in every facet of life: women at home, women
in business, women in sports, politics, art, literature, dance,
music, and education. Contact Honey Kern in the United States

EVERYDAY SUPERSTITIONS. Students collect and compare
superstitions from everyday life of different countries. It
may seem that at the end of the 20th century science can solve
almost all the problems of our life. Then why do we still need
these "unscientific" superstitions? How do they help us? Where
do they come from and how do they influence our activities?
See this topic in iearn.teachers, Subj: New Project: Everyday
Superstitions, or contact Zsuzsanna Tubakos in Hungary
tubi@bajabela.sulinet.hu.
FAMILY TRADITIONS...There is no place like home. Students
around the world exchange information about family
traditions and customs, including family life, relations
and duties, bringing up children, choosing professions,
leisure activities and sport, housing, family holidays and
parties etc. Contact Larisa Stepanenko and Nina Kolonskih in the
Ukraine ROOT@SCHL7.SEBASTOPOL.UA.

which students reflect on and write about the values that have
helped shape their lives. Languages: English, Russian,
Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Arabic and French You are invited to
submit essays up to May 15th of each year to iearn.values.
Contact Sarah Lucas in the United States slucas@us.iearn.org.
LET'S MAKE PEACE! Students will make a personal effort to help
the World to live in PEACE in the future. As a result we want
to edit a special booklet: "WORLD PEACE DECLARATION OF THE
I*EARN COMMUNITY FOR THE NEXT MILLENNIUM". Contact Zsuzsanna
Tubakos in Hungary tubi@bajabela.sulinet.hu.

I*EARN is exploring how we might work closely with the European
Union School Network (EUN). As an initial way to collaborate,
we will begin sharing project news among the schools in our two
networks. One such project is the "This is Europe!" Project.
