I*EARN-MACEDONIA LAUNCHES INDEPENDENT NGO, IMOR.   I*EARN
Macedonia is now running as an NGO (assocation) called IMOR
(Internacionalna mreza za obrazovanie i resursi), which is the
Macedonian translation of I*EARN, and also  has a new
self-owned sub-domain on the Internet.
http://www.imor.org.mk.   Their first workshop as a NGO is
scheduled for April 21 - April 23. I*EARN-Macedonia

NEAR EAST, NORTH AFRICA, SOUTH ASIA AND  U.S. EXCHANGE AND
WORKSHOP. April 28-May 19. 13 teachers from Egypt, India,
Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be coming to New
York for a weekend workshop hosted by I*EARN-US, before they
travel on to Hawaii, Ohio, Michigan, Massachusetts, New Jersey,
Florida, California and Tennessee where they will be hosted by
I*EARN teachers. See iearn.civics to learn more about their

SEEKING VIDEOCONFERENCE PARTNERS FOR MAY 31, 2000!! Bronx
International Youth Conference (BIYC), New York, USA. Teens
will focus on global issues which students have to overcome to
achieve academic excellence in school.  Please contact Ed

participate in a video-conference on this day.

CELEBRATING OUR WOMEN PROJECT.  Contribute stories of women who
have made a difference!!! Read stories such as that of Mrs.
Beatrice Lokko, the first woman to head the Accra Academy, an

ONE DAY PROJECT.   Students share stories of a day in their

OUR BABY PROJECT.  Students describe through the use of arts,
photographs and words the birth ceremony of a new-born baby in
their localities and various cultural and religious groups.

SCHOOL FOR STREET CHILDREN. Students at Headstart School in
Pakistan are launching a School For Street Children this
summer.  The school will be managed by the students themselves,
who are currently designing a curriculum for the children. Sehr
Hussain, Student Counselor at the school, writes, "I believe
that this i*earn project will  be a great opportunity for all
of us here at Headstart,to share our experiences with other
students around the world and we welcome your views and input."

STAR OF HOPE PROJECT.   In China, over 2,000,000 rural students
cannot go to school unless they have financial assistance. In
this project, participants work to provide scholarships that
will give the opportunity to Chinese students to go to school
and have these students participate and share their experiences
in I*EARN.  To get involved, see iearn.china or write

STOP VIOLENCE PROJECT.  Share your thoughts on such issues as
Capital Punishment, Animal Cruelty, Violence in School, The
Taliban's War on Women, Violence in Games, Police Brutality
Peer Pressure, and Bullying.  Conference: iearn.violence or

A VISION POETRY ANTHOLOGY.  Read contributions such as  "MOTHER
AFRICA," and "THE MOON" from students in Pakistan and Ghana,

YOUTH CAN 2000 CONFERENCE: May 1, 2000. Theme: "The Year of
Enlightenment." Hundreds of students from Colorado, Florida,
and New York will gather at the The American Museum of Natural
History to share their environmental project work. Through the
use of telecommunications, students and teachers from the Czech
Republic,  Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan,
Uganda, Australia,  Slovakia, Belarus and Washington State will

I*EARN INTERNATIONAL YOUTH ECOLOGICAL CONFERENCE.  May 4-7
2000. To be held in Poland. Expecting 40 participants from 6

CEE (Central/Eastern Europe) YOUTH SUMMIT.  Cluj Napoca,
Romania, between 24-28 of May 2000.  Three students, a teacher
and the coordinator from each CEE countries are invited to
participate as well as from the countries that have recently
entered our I*EARN family: Serbia, Bosnia, Hercegovina,
Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey and Greece. Please confirm

EUROPEAN I*EARN ART CAMP 2000. Dates not finalized, but most
possible is June 24, 25th to June 30th. This year's focus: folk

I*EARN BALTIC ART CAMP 2000.  To be held in Lithuania, Plunge
from 31 July to 4 August. The camp will mainly focus on
graffiti, installation and sculpture. We are expecting around 60
