"FROM MONTSERRAT TO MOUNT EVEREST PROJECT." The project has
received 105 registrations from schools and people interested
in participating and learning about mountaineering, Nepal,
human rights, etc. The registrations come from Argentina,
Brazil, Canada, Catalonia, Italy, Lithuania, México, Perú and
United States. The website has received 75,000 visits, and
there are a lot of questions to our experts (Ask an Expert).
The project has something very important to celebrate: the
mountaineers have been the first ones to get to the summit this
year! So we are happy for both, the success of the project and
the success of the mountaineers. http://www.lacenet.org/everest
FUNDRAISING FOR CHILDREN IN EAST TIMOR PROJECT.
http://www.iearn.org.au/clp/eastimor. See the new web site
created by Nick Hurley, a student at Bairnsdale Secondary
College, Australia, which tells the story of collecting
school supplies to help students in East Timor following the
violence there last year. Their work is part of the Fight
Against Child Labour project, which has been selected as a
finalist for the Stockholm Challenge Award to be presented in
Stockholm on June 5th. Contact Bob Carter in Australia
bob@iearn.org.au to learn more.
LET'S MAKE A PEACEFUL WORLD! We hope this project will stop
prejudices and open conversation between nations about problems
that they have never talked about openly and honestly. We also
hope that the next generation of politicians (who are our
students now) will feel more responsible for peace and they
will experience during this project that we really CAN make a
difference in the world. Contact Zsuzsanna Tubakos in
Hungary tubi@bajabela.sulinet.hu.
MY RIVER. Will you be spending time by a river during your
upcoming vacations? Share your stories! Were there plenty of
fish in the water? Can you name them? What animals did you
meet during your trek? Tell about fascinating people, events
or legends connected with the place where you were. AND, take
pictures, or paint what you see! June 1, 2000- December 31
2000. Materials will be compiled into a publication and
shared! Contact Ewelina Grzemska in Poland ewg@go2.pl.
NATIONAL HERITAGE PROJECT. Join our project by sending up to
three poems by your national poets. We would appreciate if you
send us a note why you selected those poems, and translations
of the poems, so that everybody can understand what they are
about. The preferred language is English, though others are
acceptable too. Contact Victor Kalchev in Bulgaria
firstls@revolta.com.
STOP VIOLENCE PROJECT. Join in discussions currently underway
on topics including: consequences and solutions for teenage
prostitution, child abuse, weapons, racism, violence in games
and movies, and more! Share your voice. Forum

TEACHERS FOR THE FUTURE" PROJECT. The main objective of this
project will be to evaluate what kind of impact the use of
computers are having in educational systems of developing
countries and at the same time share experiences with countries
that have been working with computers in the classroom for some
years now. Aimed primarily at students and professors from
Colleges of Education, though also seeking contribution of
in-service teachers who already have long experience using the
NTICs (New Technologies of Information and Communication).
