I*EARN-US COLLABORATING WITH U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE: The
Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs will be sponsoring
the second year of the I*EARN-CIVICS project which has helped
schools from Egypt, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan and Sri
Lanka join I*EARN projects. This year they will sponsor a
workshop in Cairo, Egypt, and an exchange with the U.S. for
teachers from participating countries.
NEW ALLIANCE FOR GLOBAL LEARNING WEBSITE! The Alliance for
Global Learning, a partnership between I*EARN, Schools Online
and the WorLD Program, has launched a new WWW site to
highlight its projects to bring educational telecommunications
to schools in Africa and Latin America. The site is at:

projects in Uganda and the Palestinian Authority, there is an

ADVENTURE CYCLISTS IN SIBERIA. The Australian cyclists, Tim
Cope and Chris Hatherly are currently staying in Siberia with
Nina Koptyug. Many thanks to Nina and her family for their very
kind hospitality. The boys are cycling from London to Beijing.

BALKAN VOICES: A newly funded I*EARN project designed to
encourage understanding and reconciliation in and near the
Balkan region. If you live as far north as Hungary, to Turkey
in the southeast and wish to participate in this project,
either as part of the planning group this Summer, or as a part
of a learning community later, please send a note of interest

FOLKTALES AND VALUES PROJECT. Readers have the option to send

THE GREATEST ARTISTS OF MY COUNTRY. Help to
collect the most brilliant art works of famous artists from
the countries participating in the I*EARN program.
Students will research, gather and send the biographies and
the photos of the artists, as well as their most famous
paintings, along with a short explanation of the motivation
for their choices. The project's aim is also to help every
participants in the I*EARN program to get to know each other
even better through the magic of the art heritage of each
