MEETING IN CAIRO, EGYPT November 10-14, 2000: iEARN-US will be
hosting a meeting for teachers from Egypt, India, Jordan,
Lebanon, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with support from the U.S.
Department of State/American Embassy in Cairo. There is space
for a limited number of extra participants to attend the
meeting. If you are interested please send a note to Radha
Blackman, USA rblackman@us.iearn.org. We particularly
encourage people from the Mediterranean region to take
advantage of this opportunity. The meeting is being organized
in cooperation with the ThinkQuest conference in Cairo,

THE "BEARING WITNESS" PROJECT is a new sub-project that has
been formed within the Holocaust/genocide Project iearn.hgp.
The goal is to have young people share their stories of
genocide, war, ethnic cleansing, racism, and bigotry  with
other students across the globe in an effort to reflect on
values and ethical choices in our daily lives. Everyone is
welcome to join in the discussions!  Forum: iearn.hgp.

BICYCLE IN OUR LIFE. Bicycles play a very important role in our
life, addressing economical, ecological and  health aspects. 
Join students in researching the history of this unique
transportation in their countries, and the role of bicycles in

SEEKING CATHOLIC SCHOOL COLLABORATIONS.  Catholic Schools in
San Jose, California, USA are interested in  creating a project
with Catholic Schools  around the world. Any ideas for

THE I*EARN FIGHT AGAINST CHILD LABOUR PROJECT welcomes new
participants.  With teachers and students from Pakistan,
Senegal, USA, Ghana, Zimbabwe and other countries about to
begin collaborations, a busy and stimulating time in this
4-year-old project is about to begin.  Past work of the project

FOOD FOR EVERYONE PROJECT SEEKS FACILITATOR.  The pilot year of
the CD-ROM curriculum project "Food For Everyone: A Teaching
Resource on World Hunger and Agriculture," has concluded and
project participants in Beijing have enthusiastically chosen to
continue the project this year.   Developed by the Council for
International Agricultural Education and Bread for the World
Institute, the CD-ROM includes: teacher notes, printable lesson
plans and publications, country briefs, glossary, video,
appendix and references. The curriculum is appropriate for
agriculture and social science classes. We seek a project
facilitator to help coordinate the project, which will work
with the World Food Day  this fall. If interested, please

LEARNING CIRCLE REGISTRATION FORMS DUE SEPT 11.  Learning
Circles are highly interactive, project-based  partnerships
among a small number of schools located throughout the world.
The next Learning Circle session begins on  Sept. 25 and ends
Jan 7 (14 weeks).  For more information about learning circles

A LEWIN CREATIVE WRITING ANTHOLOGY.  Contributions to the 2000
edition of the global anthology of student writing, Lewin, have
now been finalized.  Lewin 2000 will be published and
distributed by October.  Lewin 2001 will be coordinated jointly
by Farah Kamal in Pakistan, Bob Carter and Virginia King in
Australia. If you wish to contribute to the 2001 edition,
please email lewin@iearn.org.au  or post contributions onto
the iearn.lewin conference/forum.

NATIONAL DRINKS AND TRADITIONS.  Students find and send
information about  national drinks, drink production, its
origin and  traditions in country or region. Contact Gela
