WEEKLY BULGARIAN PAPER FEATURES I*EARN CONFERENCE IN BEIJING.
In October the weekly newspaper for teachers in Bulgaria (The
Az Buki Newspaper, 11-17 October 2000) published an article
about the I*EARN conference in Beijing entitled "The Seventh
I*EARN Conference Was in Beijing". The article was written by
Vela Spassova, a participant in the Youth Summit and the
Seventh Annual Conference in Beijing.
I*EARN IS A PARTNER IN THE PLANET PROJECT STUDENT UNDERGROUND.
(http://students.planetproject.com). It is part of an overall
project aimed at being the largest collaborative online event
in history. It offers students and classrooms a chance to
learn about other countries, other cultures and other people
while participating in an unprecedented global poll of the
human race. From November 15 - 18, 2000, millions of people
from around the world will be able to share and then instantly
compare their thought, beliefs, opinions, fears, similarities
and differences at the beginning of the new millennium.
4TH TELEMATIC TELAR/I*EARN CAMP IN ARGENTINA From November
2-4, more than 400 students and treachers from
various provinces in Argentina, will be meeting in Carlos Paz,
Province of Cordoba. Teachers and students will be presenting
workshops, sharing and planning future work together.

FIRST-EVER INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION WEEK IN THE US IS NOV.
13-17. "U.S. Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley has set
the week of Nov. 13 as a special time for students to recognize
the value of gaining a broad understanding of the cultures,
languages and governments of other nations. As part of this
effort, iEARN has been asked to compile a "Teachers' Guide to
International Collaboration On the Internet." The Guide will
be available on their website at http://www.ed.gov/technology
during International Education Week.

WORKSHOP HELD TO INTRODUCE I*EARN TO SCHOOLS IN SRI LANKA. The
workshop was held at The Royal College Auditorium on October

SMILE TRAIN CLEFT BUDDY PROJECT. The Smile Train Cleft Buddy
Project is seeking classes or clubs to participate in a pen-pal
exchange program. All ages from all countries are welcome.
The purpose of the project is to teach students tolerance and
understanding for people who may look different, focusing
mainly on facial deformities such as cleft lip. Classes
exchange a "cleft buddy" with the pen-pal class, exchange
